Partners in Learning is an inclusive teaching school alliance working with and alongside schools and academies on the regional and national stage. Their vision is to create a sustainable, inclusive and productive partnership utilising the expertise from across the alliance which will lead to the improvement of teaching and learning with improved outcomes for pupils across all schools within the Teaching School Alliance.
Partners in Learning, in conjunction with Doncaster Research School, are one of the main delivery partners for priority 1 and priority 4 set out in our Delivery Plan. Most of their work is focused on efforts to narrow the gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils at the end of Key Stage 2 so that more disadvantaged pupils meet the expected standards in reading, writing and maths.
This has involved working in partnership with other local and national agencies, Teaching Schools and cross-borough primary schools on the SSIF Literacy and Maths programmes which have provided focused strategies and interventions to targeted school. In addition, Doncaster Research School with Partners in Learning have developed and delivered:
- the successful flagship Learning Matters leadership development programme,
- the Opportunity Area 25 family of schools,
- and they are involved in supporting the implementation of a range of OA funded provision for teacher recruitment and retention and children’s mental health and well being.
Funding for school exchange trips
Schools need to apply for grants. Schools with above national average numbers of pupil premium pupils are particularly encouraged to apply.
Schools in England can apply for grants to take pupils aged 11-19 to visit a partner school overseas and give them the opportunity to experience different cultures in Europe or further afield, improve language skills and build independence, character and resilience. The programme will fund trips for around 2,900 pupils. It is aimed at young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This is being run in partnership between the Department for Education and the British Council. For more information click here.
