We are funding EXPECT Summer 2019 which is an opportunity for 5 to 18 year olds to get involved with a range of free sport, art and cultural activities whilst they aren’t at school, keeping them engaged, active and having fun throughout the 6 week holidays.
EXPECT Summer 2018 engaged 3, 462 children and young people, delivered 828 sessions across 65 different activities working in 59 different community venues and provided 6,047 meals. Figures are due to rise for EXPECT Summer 2019!
Some examples of the activities available are; first aid awareness, learn to swim, rookie lifeguard, multi-sports camps, boxing coaching, jungle activities, teen cycle adventure and much more. With over 20 FREE activities to choose from throughout the week, per area, children and young people of Doncaster will not be stuck for something to do.
The programme is managed by Expect Youth and their partners; Club Doncaster Foundation, DCLT, DARTS, Flying Futures, Active Fusion, EPIC and Doncaster College and is supported by dozens of voluntary and community groups across Doncaster. With help from FareShare, the Schools Catering Team and Moorends Miners Welfare EXPECT Summer 2019 is also able to prepare and provide free healthy meals and snacks for children and young people at most sessions.
This year events are taking place in Conisbrough, Denaby, Mexborough, Balby, Hexthorpe, Edlington, Rossington, Thorne, Moorends, Stainforth, Woodlands, Highfields, Bentley, Askern and Doncaster town centre.
